My Essay Contribution For Gamuda Scholarship

From the structures which are our basic needs in our life to the grandly built buildings as a sign of new breakthrough of technology and civilisation. It all started from one point, the centre of all- Civil Engineering.
Civil engineering is one important element in every development we are having now. From the physical development we see everyday, even structures as simple as a river bridge, there are none that are not related to civil engineering. I believe development begins from construction breakthrough. Only with these new construction technology, we are able to see all these skyscrapers, majestic structures.
I was not really into this profession in the beginning of my campus life, but after I have been exposed through syllabus and my fellow friends who have worked in the industry before, the magic of engineering started to amaze me , I felt curious on every happening and craves to know more and more about engineering. I started late and have less knowledge on civil engineering but I am now really into this field and tends to develope and gain my success in this field.
Besides that, me myself is a person who is trying hard to conserve our environment, not to say an environmentalist but i try my best to reduce the usage of polystyrene and plastic bags and so on. As an future engineer, I am so proud we also stands a role as the coordinator between human kind and nature environment. We are living in line with our nature, when nature ends, we ends as well. This is why we have been trying to conserve our nature and we merge in our construction engineering. Tools such as Green Building Index(GBI) or Green Mark are being imply in our construction. This shows the importance of conserving environment to engineering filed.
I believe I am ready to take the challenge which I might encounter in this field. I enjoyed developing my problem-solving ability and adapting knowledge to new and challenging situation beyond the cope of my coursework. Through engineering, I believe we can make this world a safer, better and a more exciting place.
